Red Rose Forest is arranging a special event just for the people of Atherton, Wigan on Saturday 7th August – to get them out on a ‘rescue mission’ saving some of the local areas most beautiful woodland wildflowers.

The event, which will take place at Borsdane Wood, Hindley Mill Lane, Hindley from 11am – 2pm, will involve a seed collection within the wood – taking flower seeds, which can then be replanted in parts of Atherton where the flowers, like bluebells and foxgloves, are less prominent. After the seed collection, there will also be a free picnic for all those involved.

This event is part of the Atherton Flowering Community project, which arranges trips out, picnics and fun days all focusing around the theme of wildflowers. The event on Saturday has been co-ordinated by Red Rose forest and Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust.
