Red Rose Forest is arranging a special event just for the people of Salford
on Wednesday 11th August – to get them out on a ‘rescue mission’
saving some of the local areas most beautiful woodland wildflowers!
The event will take place at Worsley Woods, off Green Leach Lane, Worseley from 11.30am – 2pm. Volunteers from Buile Hill Park and members of the Jonesfield Residents Association in Langworthy will be carefully collecting the seeds of a number of woodland wildflowers – including bluebells and wild garlic – and then replanting them in a brand new Wildflower nursery that is being set up at Buile Hill park. Here the seedlings will be protected until they are ready to be transferred to other local woodland where the flowers are less prominent. After the seed collection, there will also be a free picnic lunch for all involved.
This event is part of the Wildflower nursery project, which has set up wildflower nurseries across Greater Manchester, and helps local people to get involved with the life of their local woodlands.

Red Rose Forest is an environmental regeneration initiative in Greater Manchester and is one of 12 Community Forests being developed in England. We are a partnership of The Countryside Agency, the Forestry Commission and six Greater Manchester local authorities. The Red Rose Forest partnership is planting over 25 million trees across 292 square miles of the area, as part of a 40-year programme that will make Greater Manchester a greener and more satisfying place to live and work. At the heart of our strategy is the involvement of local communities in the environmental, social and economic regeneration of the area.
