Greater Manchester 'Enviro-Helpline' to help get Green Fingers growing!

~ 0161 872 0901 ~

Red Rose Forest is excited to introduce it's 'Green Helpline' - a dedicated telephone number that you can call to get information, contacts and advice about how to 'go green' in your local area!

For a limited time during April and May, callers can speak to Red Rose Forest's knowledgeable 'operators' who will provide callers with a wide range of information and contacts about all things 'environmental' in Greater Manchester. Whether the questions are about how to transform a local 'grot spot', become a 'green' volunteer, find funding to make ideas become reality or just looking for some inspiration, the Helpline will point you in the right direction!

The Helpline is part of a national project in partnership with Cabe Space, the London-based regeneration agency. The 'It's Your Space' campaign aims to inspire the people of Greater Manchester to look at where they live with fresh eyes, and spot any potential for environmental improvements - whether through the creation of community gardens, street tree planting, litter picks, or just with a few planters and hanging baskets!

The helpline (0161 872 0901) will be open between 11am and 3pm until Friday 14th May.

Ends

Notes to Editors

Red Rose Forest is an environmental regeneration initiative in Greater Manchester and is one of 12 Community Forests being developed in England. We are a partnership of The Countryside Agency, the Forestry Commission and six Greater Manchester local authorities. The Red Rose Forest partnership is planting over 25 million trees across 292 square miles of the area, as part of a 40-year programme that will make Greater Manchester a greener and more satisfying place to live and work. At the heart of our strategy is the involvement of local communities in the environmental, social and economic regeneration of the area.

Cabe Space is part of the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment and was set up in May 2003. It champions excellence in the design and management of parks, streets and squares in our towns and cities. Cabe Space receives funding from the office of the Deputy Prime Minister and support from the Department of Culture, Media and Sport.
