Community Tree Nurseries

Red Rose Forest works hard to support local communities as they carry out their own environmental projects. Over the past two years Red Rose Forest has been developing four community tree nurseries, which supply community groups, schools and other organisations with free trees for them to plant in their local area.

Unlike commercial enterprises, Red Rose Forest's community tree nurseries do not aim to supply on a large scale, but instead stock trees grown from local seed (much of which is collected by volunteers) and tailor themselves to the needs of the local community.

There are community tree nurseries in Partington in Trafford, Smithills in Bolton, the Spinney in Wigan and Blackleach in Salford. If you would like to find out about availability at any of these nurseries, or for advice about suitable trees for your project please contact Fliss Paris, the Community Liaison Officer.
