About Red Rose Forest

Chorlton Ees, Manchester image

What is Red Rose Forest?

Red Rose Forest is the Community Forest for central and western Greater Manchester. We are working to transform this area into a greener, healthier and more satisfying place to live, work and invest.

Red Rose Forest is made up of all the lovely, natural green stuff across Greater Manchester . We work hard to make sure where you live and work is as natural and beautiful as possible and we work with lots of people to make this happen.

What we do?

Since 1991 Red Rose Forest has been creating new areas of woodland, helping to improve existing green spaces and encouraging thousands of people every year to visit their local park, woodland, nature reserve or community garden - discovering the countryside that is right on your doorstep.

Where is Red Rose Forest?

Look out of your window. See anything green?

Trees, bushes, grass? That's Red Rose Forest. It's not a clump of trees somewhere - it's everything. It covers Manchester, Bury, Wigan, Bolton, Salford and Trafford. And it's yours to enjoy. So get out there!

Why is this important?

There are many reasons, the most important being climate change. We need more trees and green space to keep temperatures consistent, reduce flooding and keep nature in our cities. Plus no one likes living in a world of grey. More trees make us healthier, happier and prouder about where we live.

How do I get involved?

Want to get more involved in your local environment? We want to hear from you.
