About Red Rose Forest
Who we are Red Rose Forest is a leading environmental regeneration initiative and the Community Forest for central and western Greater Manchester . We are a partnership of Natural England, the Forestry Commission, the metropolitan boroughs of Bolton, Bury, Trafford and Wigan and the Cities of Manchester and Salford. Our mission is to develop well-wooded multi-purpose landscapes that will improve the quality of life for those living and working within the Red Rose Forest boundary, creating better environments for people to use, cherish and enjoy and for businesses to invest in. What we do Since 1991 Red Rose Forest has been creating new areas of woodland, helping to improve existing green spaces and encouraging thousands of people every year to visit their local park, woodland, nature reserve or community garden - discovering the countryside that is right on their doorstep. Red Rose Forest is committed to improving and increasing Green Infrastructure in Greater Manchester, which we believe is at the heart of urban renewal and regeneration and which is central to improving the quality of life for the people who live, work and invest in the City Region. At the heart of our strategy is the involvement of the local community in the environmental, social, and economic regeneration of the area. We work with hundreds of larger and smaller organisations, volunteers and individuals to deliver a wide range of projects, from sowing wildflower seeds in local woodlands to planting street trees in urban landscapes.
