  • Since 1992 the Red Rose Forest Partnership has planted around 1,183 hectares of woodland, opened up 1900 hectares of woodland for public access and secured £38 million worth of investment.

  • Since it began in 2001 the Green Streets team has worked with local people to plant over 2000 street trees on over 100 streets across Greater Manchester, improving the quality of life, health and well being of the community and improving the local housing market.

  • Urban woodlands and green spaces are excellent places to pass on skills and bring local communities together. Between 2005 -2007 over a thousand community events where held within the Red Rose Forest area, involving thousands of people in the natural environment on their doorsteps, providing opportunities to develop skills and encouraging sustained community involvement in the Forest.

  • Transforming disused landfill sites into attractive urban green spaces can offer long-term solutions to neglected urban areas. At numerous sites across Greater Manchester the Green Tips project has carried out extensive work to reduce anti-social behaviour, such as fly-tipping and off-road motor-cycling, improving access and security, and turning old landfill sites into beautiful, safe community woodlands.

  • Red Rose Forest has become a centre of excellence on biomass energy. In 2007 the team worked in partnership to produce the first directory of biomass fuel suppliers in the North West. Tackling concerns over limited fuel supplies and providing a technical guide to fuel quality.
