Red Rose Forest is committed to encouraging local communities to use and enjoy the Forest as well as get involved in creating the Forest through small achievable actions.
To help us achieve this goal we work with other committed professionals and organisations within the Red Rose and Pennine Edge Forest areas as part of the Greater Manchester Forest Network. The Network is the key mechanism for delivering community based environmental regeneration across the two Forest.
The Network provides support to professionals working with communities across the two Forest areas, linking together organisations and individuals who are all working to provide easy, accessible and innovative ways for local people to get involved in the Forest.
Over 150 individuals currently form the Network including project officers, rangers, community development workers, wardens and health and education specialists from the public, private and voluntary sectors. Together we have run a number of successful projects with communities across the Forest and work to share skills, ideas and knowledge.
The Network aims to support its member's work by sharing information, skills and resources. We run the popular Training and Skills Share programme which disseminates good practice and provides free and low cost training courses for its members.
If you work within the Red Rose or Pennine Edge Forest areas and deliver or are interested in delivering initiatives which involve the public or community groups then the Network is for you.
