Home Greater Manchester Forest Network Projects

Projects
Projects initiated by the Network have proved to be an effective way of reaching local communities, increasing commitment from partners and creating a greater sense of joined up working across the Forest. Network projects allow members to work towards common goals and objectives, develop partnerships and share resources, skills and ideas. Network projectsHealth Walks Red Rose Forest's Health Walks Festival was hugely successful and acted as a catalyst for the development of further health walks across the Forest. We want to build on this success and develop new idea for promoting healthy living in the forest. Woodland Wildflowers Red Rose Forest involved hundreds of people in the first phase of the Woodland Wildflower project, and established new woodland wildflower areas. We will work with Network members to continue to involve people in the establishment and preservation of wildflower communities. Traditional Trades The North West has a history of managing woodlands to support traditional woodland trades, and associated skills development. In recent decades, these skills have diminished. Red Rose Forest works with Network members to make use of traditional skills to provide training and an economic resource, and create diverse landscapes. Fruits of Red Rose Forest Red Rose Forest supported the establishment of community orchards within the last community strategy, and they've been a great way of inspiring community engagement. We will revisit this project, supporting Network members to establish Fruits of the Forest projects. For more information about Fruits of Red Rose Forest and your guide to the community orchards and fruit woods of Red Rose Forest please download the leaflet by clicking here Access and Involvement Red Rose Forest if full of inspirational green spaces, which everyone should be able to access and benefit from. Working through a variety of targeted practical projects we will promote Forest sites to as many diverse communities as possible.
