Key issues 
The work of Red Rose Forest is an integral part of the region’s commitment to positively impacting on a number of key social, economic and environmental priorities. These include: 1. Adapting to and mitigating the effects of Climate Change 2. Promoting physical and mental health 3. Reducing waste and promoting recycling 4. Developing sustainable transport 5. Improving biodiversity 6. Developing community cohesion and engagement 7. Improving educational attainment 8. Improving the local economy Projects & Services To help us deliver against the above priorities, Red Rose Forest runs a broad range of Projects and Services, including: - Protect, manage and further develop the network of open spaces, waterways, gardens, woodlands, green corridors, street trees and open countryside that make up the Green Infrastructure across Greater Manchester.
- Advise on and promote Green Infrastructure as a tool for integrated and strategic environmental improvements.
- Engage local communities across Red Rose Forest, encouraging and enabling community use of green spaces and supporting sustained community involvement in Red Rose Forest.
- Work with key partners to support the development of Regional Parks.
- Work with key partners to support the development of renewable energy solutions.
- Work with and support environmental and community liaison professionals through the Greater Manchester Forest Network.
- Secure private sector involvement in the development of Red Rose Forest and generate confidence in the long-term prospects for the area.
- Ensure integrated and coordinated working through active participation in Local Strategic Partnerships.
- Advise and support landowners on the use of Green Waste and biosolids.
- Work with key partners to support the creation of Timber Stations.
- Contribute to Biodiversity Action Planning for priority habitats and species.
- Work with schools on specific projects and campaigns and foster the educational use of Red Rose Forest.
- Work with universities and other tertiary institutions, including academic and industrial placements and research.
- Promote locally-produced sustainable timber products.
