Green Streets

Trees outside Crowcroft Park Primary School, Manchester

What is the Green Streets project?

Green Streets uses greening projects to improve the quality of life for urban communities.

From planting street trees to promoting the value of greening as a means of tackling a range of social, health and economic issues, the Green Streets Team has been working with local communities in Greater Manchester since 2001. Each community is different so Green Streets produces a  tailor-made greening scheme.

The project aims to improve the standard of living in urban areas by

  • Creating a lush green back drop to the urban setting
  • Tackling environmental issues associated with city living
  • Encouraging community interaction and improving community spirit
  • Fostering a sense of ownership in communities
  • Helping to manage climate change
