Red Rose Forest is eager to plant trees. We have a target to plant over six million trees over 40 years and with the help of our many committed partners we are already well on our way – creating new areas of community woodland, planting street trees and turning derelict land into tree covered landscapes.
At the heart of our strategy is the involvement of the local community in the environmental, social, and economic regeneration of the area. We are committed to encouraging local communities to use and enjoy the Forest as well as get involved in creating the Forest through small achievable actions. We work to support community action enabling groups to have sustained involvement in the Forest and promote the value of community participation work across Red Rose Forest.
We aim to do this by running and attending events and community projects, working with schools, local businesses and community/residential groups, and ensuring that community participation is at the heart of projects from the beginning.
To help us achieve our vision we work with other committed professionals and organisations within the Red Rose Forest and Pennine Edge Forest areas as part of the Greater Manchester Forest Network. The Forest Network is a support group for environmental professionals working with communities within the two Forest areas.
