Renewable energy

fallen tree

The North West region is leading the way in biomass fuel supply and is now a major biomass fuel supplier to other regions in the UK.

Correctly managed biomass is a sustainable fuel that can deliver a significant reduction in the net carbon emissions when compared with fossil fuels. Whilst biomass releases CO2 when it is burnt, it absorbs it as it grows. If it is sustainably managed a balance between carbon emitted and absorbed can be maintained, making woodfuel from sustainable, well-managed forests an excellent source of renewable energy.

Red Rose Forest is leading the way to promote and develop the bioenergy field both locally and regionally, working with partners Envirolink North West to produce the UK’s first directory of regional fuel supplies.

In addition Red Rose Forest is able to offer a support and advice service on renewable energy to the public and private sectors including advice on technology and sourcing of sustainable biomass.
