Green Streets, Green Alley Seedley & Langworthy

Opportunities to green your community

Do you live in Manchester? Would you like to make your neighbourhood greener, healthier and more attractive?

Red Rose Forest has been working with communities across Greater Manchester for over 20 years to do just this.

Through the Green Streets programme, Red Rose Forest is able to help communities in Manchester apply for funding and deliver greening projects from street trees, to green alleyways and living green walls.

There are many benefits that trees and greenery can bring including:

  • improving local air quality
  • reducing noise pollution
  • reducing local temperatures on hot days and
  • reducing energy consumption in houses sheltered by trees
  • adding value to urban areas by making them more attractive
  • promoting a sense of local pride
  • promoting a sense of well-being
  • encouraging children to engage with the natural environment

Manchester City Council offers funding to community groups and residents of Manchester through the Cash grant scheme. If you would like to green your neighbourhood Red Rose Forest can help you to apply for a CASH grant and assist with the practicalities of delivering your greening project.

Please contact Kevin Wigley, Green Streets Officer for more information on 0161 872 1660 or at
