Cox Green, Bolton Background Cox Green covers approximately 5 hectares in north Bolton. It was used as a sandstone quarry from as early as 1840. This fantastic patch of green belt land provides a green open space, rich with grasslands, wildflowers, trees, insects and birds for use by local residents. Cox Green is a fantastic gateway to the West Pennine Moors with many paths leading to some great walks. The site is adjacent to a Site of Biological Importance (SBI) along its western boundary, noted for the presence of the protected Great Crested Newt (Triturus Cristatus), heath community and exposed geology. The area and associated species are considered within the local Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP). What has Green Tips done?
